Letter from Peter dictated on the 20th October:
Dear praying friends,
I have been amazed at the love shown to me over the last few weeks. God's kindness is the greatest, but yours is very precious. For letters and messages and cards I give you grateful thanks.

It has been a dark valley. One verse which attracted me greatly was simply this  we " depart to be with Christ which is far better" I wondered if the end was near as I felt very ill but it was not to be so. I am still here...it is not easy but I am much helped by the kindness and love of so many.

I am sorry that this note has to come to you in this way but so many have written and prayed. I could not respond to all the letters individually, I know you will forgive me, I thank you again.

Peter Rowell.

 from the Family:

During the time Dad went through chemotherapy he had been clinging to this verse from Job (23:10) “He knoweth the way that I take: When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."

Over the last few weeks he had thought a lot about Paul’s statement in Philippians (1:23) “to depart and be with Christ which is far better.”

The day before he died, Dad was able to give testimony in a voice which was much stronger that it had been for some time. He said “I am at peace with God, I am ready to meet God. I am a wretched sinner but God has given me an assurance that my sins are forgiven and I will not be cast out.”
